Virtual Boulevard

Virtual Boulevard comprises poems and images derived walking the streets of one city thinking of another, of others. It includes the work of Camila Gassiebayle, Jorge Javier Romero, Valenetín Etchegaray and María Muchut in Buenos Aires, and Nasim Luczaj, Gloria Dawson, Lu Rose Cunningham and Mau Baiocco in Glasgow.

Structured around play and friendship, the translations explore working together with intralanguages as opposed to a strict dichotomy between source and target language. The workshops did not require fluency in either English or Spanish. Rather, procedural techniques, Ais and other instruments (stories and laughter) were utilized as required in producing translations. Poets were encouraged to use these resources as aids and ‘stumbling blocks’, probing the limits of technology to generate text with and against our desires for community and communication.

Virtual Boulevard additionally contains an interview by noted Argentinian poet and translator Cecilia Pavón, creator of the Microcentro literary community space in Buenos Aires, with artist Corin Sworn and assistance from SPAM press staff editor Mau Baiocco.
